Peggy Beardmore (University of Aberdeen)

Peggy Beardmore's PhD research investigates the significance Hospitalfield, Arbroath, to the development of 20th-century Scottish visual culture. As Hospitalfield's art school and artist residency programme engaged with hundreds of artists, many of them women, exploring this topic presents a new way to consider the education, development, and work of artists from Scotland and beyond. This research has involved both archival work and oral history. As she has previously worked with a variety of museums, galleries and art organisations, her interests also involve the represenation of female artists in collections and the interpretation and display of work by female artists.
