Kathryn Milligan (ESB Centre for the Study of Irish Art, National Gallery of Ireland )

Kathryn Milligan is an IRC Postdoctoral Fellow in the School of Art History and Cultural Policy. Her research project, ‘Dublin, Art and Empire: Artistic Networks and Cultural Exchange, 1886 - 1949’, traces artistic and cultural connections between Dublin and cities in Britain from the late nineteenth century to the mid twentieth century. It involves mapping network of artistic and cultural exchange, and examining how these impacted on the development of art and artistic life in Ireland. Networks between women artists in Ireland and Britain forms a key aspect of this project, and research on the connections between artists and exhibiting societies is ongoing.
