Caitlin Doley (Courtauld Institute of Art)

Caitlin Doley is a PhD student at the Courtauld Institute. She aims to  explore and examine the oeuvre of Marie Spartali Stillman (1844-1927). Her  preliminary interests centre on how Stillman can be positioned within the context of nineteenth-century art history, and how her art engages with mental states of consciousness and unconsciousness via her handling of space and colour. She will likely expand her thesis to explore numerous other elements of her artistic process and output as her research progresses.
